Phoebe began conducting as an elementary school chorus director in the Santa Monica/Malibu and Oakland school districts. Later, she took on the mantle of music director for the Art Monastery Project in Italy, directing professional and amateur singers in a chamber choir performing everything from Gregorian chant to Gershwin. Phoebe has also directed church choirs—Good Shepherd Lutheran in Concord, and St. James the Great in Newport Beach. During her years of singing in the San Francisco Symphony, she occasionally filled the role of Assistant Director, preparing the chorus when the director was away. Her position as director of Women's Antique Vocal Ensemble (WAVE) in Berkeley focused on medieval and Renaissance choral music for women's voices. She recently gave an interview for KDFC's radio program "The State of the Arts," which can be heard here: https://www.kdfc.com/2017/12/three-wise-ones/
